Who is entitled to the Career Sea Pay (CSP) premium?

The Career Sea Pay (CSP) premium is specifically designed to reward personnel who have committed an extended period to sea duty, acknowledging the challenges and unique lifestyle that accompanies such service. To qualify for the CSP premium, members must have served 36 consecutive months of sea duty. This period reflects the Navy's recognition of the significant commitment required to remain at sea for an extended duration, which can involve demanding operational tasks and prolonged separation from family and home.

Members serving 24 consecutive months do receive sea pay, but they are not eligible for the premium associated with CSP until they meet the full requirement of 36 months. Transitioning to shore duty or serving under emergency conditions does not automatically confer eligibility for the CSP premium, as this is specifically tied to the length of consecutive sea service.
